Our Story

Twins '47 – Headwear that fits perfectly.
Banner '47 – Soft, hand-finished apparel.

The history of Twins '47 can be traced back to the busy streets around Fenway.

This is a classic story. It's the American dream come to life. Twin brothers Arthur and Henry D'Angelo, arrived in Boston from Italy at the age of 12. They found their way as street hustlers selling newspapers, flowers, and mama's pasta sauce (well, maybe not the last one). In their work, they discovered Fenway Park and witnessed first-hand the "passion" of Boston fans. Seeing an opportunity the boys cut Red Sox pennants out of felt. The pennants were wildly successful and Sox fans demanded more. (You can't just feed the beast once.) In response, the boys opened up a souvenir store across from Fenway. Souvenirs became the business and business was good. Soon the twins took to selling souvenirs to other baseball teams.

From there, Arthur's four sons – Bobby, Mark, David and Steven – entered the family business and the company branched into the production of baseball caps. From the first painter's cap to our signature hat, "The Franchise", we committed ourselves to delivering headwear that fit perfectly. (And judging by the number of people wearing our hats on a daily basis, we like to think we succeeded.)

Meanwhile, in 2003, a small, upstart apparel brand started to make a name for itself. Unsatisfied with the sweatshirts and t-shirts in the collegiate market, Banner Supply Company focused on creating the best sports licensed apparel. Using new techniques and classic looks, the company established its own distinct fit, feel and finish. (Now we're not into tooting our own horn, but the product is really something special. It's a far cry from game jerseys. In fact, it's more like a harmonious fusion of fan and fashion.)

In 2005, the two companies joined forces. Built on similar values – quality, comfort, and durability – we've become one of the most trusted names in licensed sports merchandise. Today, we create premium headwear and apparel for Major League Baseball, the NBA and the NHL as well as 450 colleges. Our products populate sports stadiums, team stores, college bookstores and a host of other retailers around the country. (Check your closet, we're probably in there. If we're not, get on your horse and make it happen.)

This year marks the formal launch of Twins '47 and Banner '47. While our name has changed and our company has grown, our foundation remains unchanged. That's where our new look comes in. It connects us to our past. It symbolizes our commitment to fans. It reminds us of the souvenir that gave us our start. Hopefully it does the same for you. After all, you're the reason we exist.
